Congratulations to HELI 2016 alumna Lesliam Quirós-Alcalá, PhD, MS, on her recent award!
Dr. Quirós-Alcalá will be recognized with the International Society of Exposure Science (ISES) Joan M. Daisey Outstanding Young Scientist Award to be presented at the 2019 ISES/ISIAQ Conference in Kaunas, Lithuania this coming August. This award recognizes outstanding contributions to the science of human exposure analysis by a young scientist.
Joan M. Daisey was a founding ISES member and past president (1995- 1996), continuing to be active until her death in 2000. Daisey was senior staff scientist at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (Berkeley Lab) and one of the nation’s leading experts on indoor air quality.
Dr. Quirós-Alcalá is an Assistant Professor of Applied Environmental Health in the University of Maryland School of Public Health.
Regarding this recognition, Dr. Quirós-Alcalá shared, “I am truly humbled by this recognition as my contributions would not be possible without a village of amazing mentors, researchers, study participants, and community partners whom I have had the honor to work with over the years.”
