HELI 2013 alumni Angela Rose Black, PhD, was recently profiled as Someone You Should Know by ParentMap!
Dr. Black is the founder and CEO of Wisconsin-based organization Mindfulness for the People, a “for-profit, Black-owned social impact entity that is radically re-imagining the mindfulness movement.”
Dr. Black spent 15 years in academia researching health and stress in the lives of black women before launching her own agency. She is a CCHE Affiliate, an alumni of the 2013 HELI cohort, was an AHEAD Program Scholar during her UW-Madison post-doctoral training, and was awarded an AHEAD Pilot grant for her project “Exploring the Feasibility & Acceptability of a Condensed Mindfulness Curriculum for African American Women: A Pilot Study.”
Congratulations on the recognition, Dr. Black! This feature is part of ParentMaps’ year-long conversation to explore how families and schools can nurture empathy, mindfulness, and kindness.
